Reliability Monitoring
VIBSURVEY
Scheduled "Vibration Severity Monitoring"
The VIBSURVEY is a vibration monitoring service that provides a low cost method of benchmarking the reliability of specific press/die combinations in your facility. With this program, a Minster technician will travel to your facility with a VIBMAN instrumentation system, obtain a series of vibration severity readings from specified press/die combinations, and send this information back to Minster’s research engineers. Minster’s engineers will analyze this information and provide you with a report which analyzes the readings and provides next step recommendations.
Technology Overview
Vibration Severity Monitoring is a patented technology that monitors and predicts the long-term reliability and optimum running speed of your stamping dies and presses. Historically, stampers have utilized systems such as tonnage monitoring and in-die sensing devices to detect problems in their stamping operations. Unlike these re-active systems, Vibration Severity Monitoring pro-actively determines the reliability of a specific tool in a specific press, the optimum running speed of a specific tool in a specific press, and the effect of tooling and material changes on the system’s long term reliability. This technology can be utilized on any stamping press, but it is most beneficial on presses that run:
• Progressive dies at speeds in excess of 200 SPM.
• Progressive dies that include blanking applications.
Utilizing vibration monitoring provides you with a method to maximize your production while optimizing your uptime and your tooling and press life.
Benefits
• Continuous monitoring and visual indication of the reliability of each press/die combination that is being run.
• Immediate indication of the effect of material variations and the effect of thermal and dynamic changes on your long-term die and press reliability.
• Determination of the maximum running speed of a specific operation for long term reliability.
• Measurement of the effect of “minor” die and set-up modifications on your long-term die and press reliability.
