Nidec Drive Technology Opens New Press Machine Assembly Factory
Nidec Drive Technology Corporation (“Nidec Drive Technology” or the “Company”), a Nidec Group company, has announced today that it has held a ceremony to open its new press machine assembly factory in the city of Ritto, Shiga Prefecture, on Wednesday, April 15.
This factory will double Nidec Drive Technology’s Japanese domestic production capacity from 60 to 120 press machines per year, while expanding its product lineup of largest machines from 150 tons to 330 tons, enabling the Company to meet diverse manufacturing needs in Japan.
With the launch of this new factory, Nidec Drive Technology Corporation, which makes products globally, can further decentralize its Asian production bases. Now, the Company is poised to build a system to better handle geopolitical risks to supply products more stably and respond to global demand fluctuation both promptly and flexibly.
Located on the premise of Nidec Machine Tool Corporation (a Nidec Group company that manufactures machine tools and other products), this new factory will share with it machine tool processing equipment and measuring technology and service system to promote technology fusion between and cross-selling of machine tools and press machines. Visitors to this facility will be able to see gear machine tools, machining centers, lathes, and presses.
In addition to producing press machines, Nidec Drive Technology is capable of proposing production lines with feeds, peripheral devices, and control units. With the launch of its new factory, the Company will strive to make maximum use of the Nidec Group’s internal synergies and scale-based advantages, improve its in-house component production rate, shorten its assembly lead time, and enhance its post-installation product support system.
